Dear Bill,
I really appreciate (and, indeed, applaud) your groundbreaking effort to quantify the phenomenon of "selling out" with your Moby Quotient. However, speaking as an erstwhile physicist and former math teacher -- as well as a pop-music scholar -- I believe there is a minor flaw in your formula: the fractional expression in the denominator appears to be inverted. After all, rich rock stars (like Paul McCartney) who sell out under the formula as it stands actually are treated more kindly than poor struggling ones (like any of the surviving Ramones), who might actually need the money. Please consider replacing the fraction (lambda/pi) in the denominator (l/p + t) with its reciprocal (p/l), thus yielding a revised denominator (p/l + t). Thanks again for your insightful contribution to the critical understanding of popular music in our corporate world.
All best,
Scott Currie
