Jo Robins Bonner (R)

About The Candidate

Education

    University of Alabama, BA

A native of Camden, Ala., Jo Bonner worked for Rep. Sonny Callahan, beginning with the congressman's first campaign in 1984. He became chief of staff to the nine-term GOP incumbent, who endorsed Camden in his race to succeed him.

Bonner, still Callahan's top aide, moved back to Mobile, Ala., in an unusual move for a chief of staff. But he build familiarity with the 1st District and the groundwork to compete in the seven-way 2002 Republican primary.

Bonner is an active member of the Mobile community, serving on the board of directors for the Chamber of Commerce, Rotary Club and the Mobile Chapter of the University of Alabama Alumni Association.

Bonner and his wife, Janee, still reside in Mobile with their three children.
