A Louisiana native, Parker Griffith earned undergraduate and medical degrees at Louisiana State University before doing a medical residency at the University of Texas. He opened a cancer practice in Huntsville in 1975. Now also has been minority owner in several businesses, including nursing homes and radio stations.
He is a state senator, representing north Alabama's 7th District.
Parker and his wife, Virginia, have 5 children.
