David Hartsuch was born in Aurora, Ill., and now resides in Bettendorf. He earned a bachelor's at Northern Illinois University, a master's at University of Minnesota and a medical degree at University of Minnesota.
Hartsuch has worked as an emergency medicine physician. He defeated 18-year Republican incumbent state Sen. Maggie Tinsman in 2006 for the 41st District seat and still serves in the state Senate.
Hartsuch and his wife, Chistine, have three children.
