Deborah "Debbie" Holmes was born in Minneapolis, Minn., and now resides in Boise. She is a political ingnue who says she is realistic about her chances of beating Republican Rep. Mike Simpson, a five-term incumbent.
Though Holmes won her primary against another relatively unknown candidate, she said voters would think she was "delusional" if she said she thought she was going to beat Simpson.
Holmes is a real estate agent and part-time chemistry instructor at Boise State University.
Holmes and her husband, Randall, have three children.
