Aaron Schock was born in Peoria, Ill. and grew up on a farm with his parents, brother and two sisters.

At 19, he won a write-in campaign to become the youngest person serving on an Illinois school board. He unseated an incumbent to become a state representative in 2005 to become one of the state's youngest legislators on record. He was re-elected in 2006 with 59 percent of the vote.

Schock, seen as a rising star in the Republican Party, easily beat his two challengers for the 18th Congressional District nomination. He works in real estate management.

He is single.
