Scott Harper was born, the oldest of five children, in Chicago. He was raised in Naperville and graduated from Naperville Central High School and settled in Lockport last year.
Harper spent most of his career as a manufacturing executive and business owner of a media, design and marketing firm. He served as community activist in Chicago, where he tutored children, mentored young adults and worked in several area homeless shelters. He is also active in the religious community and is a long-time member of Old St. Patrick's Church in Chicago.
He earned his undergraduate degree at Wheaton College and received MBA from the University of Chicago and Oxford University in England.
Harper has two adult children.
