Rodger W. Jennings was born in Alton, Ill. and graduated from Roxana High School in 1972.
He currently lives in Alton and is a senior project manager for Western Union, where he's worked for 28 years. He is the chairman of the Metro East Green Party which includes Madison, Macoupin, St. Clair, Jersey, and Calhoun counties.
He's worked as a volunteer, coach and athletic director for the religious civil rights organization, the Catholic League, and is also active in the Alton Volunteer Emergency Corps.
Jennings and his family were recognized as Alton's Home Town Hero for their volunteer work in 2003.
Jennings, 53, has been a widower since 2003 and has three adult children and seven grandchildren.
