Alan Augustson described himself as an economist and statistician by trade, although he currently works as a security guard.Augustson got an undergraduate degree in anthropology from the University of New Mexico and a master's in public policy from the University of Chicago.
He has worked for the Illinois Chamber of Commerce and with the Federal Emergency Management Agency during the 2005 hurricane season, according to his Web site.
He previously has sought the Green Party's nomination for president.
Augustson is married and has a daughter.
