Rahm Emanuel lives in Chicago, is married and has three children. He graduated from Sarah Lawrence College in 1981 and received a Master's Degree from Northwestern University in 1985.

Emanuel entered politics shortly after college, working as an organizer and fund-raiser for U.S. Sen. Paul Simon and Chicago Mayor Richard Daley. He became a top fundraiser for candidate Bill Clinton and eventually became a senior adviser to the president on such issues as NAFTA and gun control.

He returned to Chicago in 1998, where he made millions as an investment banker before deciding to run for Congress.
