Daniel Lipinski, a Chicago-area native with heavy name recognition, moved back to his hometown to replace his 11-term father in the U.S. House.
A veteran of various Chicago campaigns, including those of his father and Mayor Richard Daley, he also spent several summers working for congressmen in Washington.
The Duke University-educated assistant professor of political science at the University of Tennessee took a leave to run for the seat.
Lipinski is married. His wife, Judy, is an actuary in the Washington, D.C. area.
