Robert Abboud was born in Boston on Nov. 28, 1956. He moved with his parents and two sisters to the Chicago area four years later and has lived in Barrington Hills since 1968. The grandson of Lebanese immigrants, his father A. Robert Abboud, was Chairman of First Chicago Corporation and The First National Bank of Chicago.

Abboud first earned a bachelors' degree in nuclear engineering from Perdue University and continued on to earned his masters degree from Northwestern University. He worked at Argonne National Laboratory to support energy/advanced nuclear reactor development.

Abboud has worked at Commonwealth Edison for 20 years as a senior nuclear engineer, before leaving to run his own firm.

He was elected as Barrington Hills Village Trustee in 2001 and was elected its president in 2005.

Abboud and wife Patricia have two children and two grandchildren.
