Barry Alan Welsh has been a teacher, salesman, radio talk show host and minister. He ran unsuccessfully for a state Senate seat in 2004, then ran unsuccessfully for a congressional seat in 2006.
Welsh was born in Rush County and is a life-long resident of east central Indiana. He graduated from Ball State University and United Theological Seminary in Dayton, Ohio. He also attended Indianapolis University.
He was the pastor of the Laurel United Methodist Church and the Metamora United Methodist Church in Franklin County until the summer of 2007. Now he is an active minister currently not under appointment.
Welsh and his wife, Sherri, live in rural Fayette County. They have four daughters.
