Donald J. Cazayoux was born in New Roads, La. and currently lives there. He earned bachelor's and master's degrees from Louisiana State University and a law degree from Georgetown University.

Cazayoux is a former prosecutor who was elected three times to the Louisiana Legislature. Cazayoux was elected to the U.S. House in 2008 after winning a special election on May 3. He filled the seat vacated by former Congressman Richard Baker.

He and his wife, Cherie, have three children.
