Jacob Turk was born in Woodland, Calif., and has lived in Lee's Summit for more than 28 years. He served in the Marines from 1974-77, and earned a bachelor's in mechanical engineering at the University of Missouri-Kansas City.
Turk owned a small information technology company for 12 years and was a computer analyst for the National Association of Insurance Commissioners from 1997 to 2006. He has devoted his time since then to campaigning.
Turk's wife's name is Donna, and he has three children from his first marriage.
