Anthony Weiner is a Brooklyn, N.Y., native who lives in the borough's Sheepshead Bay neighborhood. He received a bachelor's degree in political science from the State University of New York College at Plattsburgh in 1985 and entered politics as an aide to then-Rep. Charles Schumer, D-Brooklyn.
Weiner served on the New York City Council from 1992 to 1999. He was first elected to the U.S. House in 1998. He ran unsuccessfully for New York City mayor in 2005, losing in the Democratic primary.
He is single.
