Jim Buhrmaster grew up in Scotia and lives in Schenectady. He graduated from Syracuse University in 1968 with a degree in business administration.
Buhrmaster is president of Buhrmaster Energy Group, a family-owned small business that spans four generations, selling home heating and cooling products in seven counties.
Buhrmaster has been involved with numerous nonprofit and community organizations, including serving as chairman of the Schenectady County Chamber of Commerce.
He was elected to the Schenectady County Legislature in 2003 and again in 2007.
He and his wife, Sandra, have four sons and six grandchildren.
