Charlie Wilson was born in eastern-Ohio coal country, graduated from Ohio University with a bachelor's degree and holds a degree from the Cincinnati College of Mortuary Science.
Wilson, of St. Clairsville, has been a successful businessman, operating a furniture supplier, funeral home and real-estate company.
He was first elected to the Ohio House of Representatives in 1996, then faced with term limits, ran successfully for the Ohio Senate in 2004.
