Robert Latta was born in 1956 in Bluffton, Ohio, and continues to live in his hometown of Bowling Green. He received a degree in education from Bowling Green State University and a law degree from the University of Toledo.
He served as a Wood County commissioner from 1990-96. He was elected to the Ohio Senate in 1996 and served there until he was elected to the Ohio House in 2000.
Latta and his wife, Marcia, have two daughters.
