About The Candidate

Henry Brown was born in Bishopville, S.C., and graduated from Berkeley High School in Moncks Corner in 1953. He attended The Citadel and then-Baptist College in Charleston and now lives in Hanahan.

Brown is a businessman and investor who is a retired vice president of Piggly Wiggly Carolina Inc.

He was elected to the state House of Representatives in 1985 and, in 1995, became the first Republican to serve as chairman of the powerful House Ways and Means Committee in a century.

He was elected to the U.S. House in 2000.

Brown is married to the former Billye Beaver and has three children.
