Paul Corden was born in Chattanooga, Tenn., and now resides in Spartanburg. He earned a bachelor's in political science at Xavier University and a law degree at the Chase College of Law at Northern Kentucky University.
In 1968, Corden volunteered for the Navy and served two rotations, including in Vietnam as a medical corpsman, earning the Bronze Star.
Corden has been a beverage plant manager and vice president of a food service industry equipment supplier. He was the president of a medical technology company, Mobile Health Technologies, before directing professional development for business and industry at Spartanburg Community College. He retired in September 2007.
He has been active in civic groups and his church.
Corden and his wife, Lori, have two daughters.
