Zach Paul Wamp (R)

About The Candidate

Zach Wamp was born in Fort Benning, Ga., but his family moved within months to Chattanooga, where he still lives.

He attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, 1977-78 and 1979-80, and majored in industrial relations. He also attended the University of Tennessee, 1978-79, and majored in political science. He did not earn degrees from either university.

Wamp became a commercial and industrial real estate broker. In 1989, he became vice president of Charter Real Estate Corp., where he sold more than $7 million in real estate during his first full year.

He was first elected to the U.S. House in 1994.

Wamp and his wife, Kim, have two children.
