Lincoln Davis was born and resides in Pall Mall, Tenn. Once the mayor of Byrdstown, he earned a degree from Tennessee Tech in agronomy and became a beef cattle and tobacco farmer. He worked as a soil scientist with Soil Conservation Services and a Farmers Home Administration loan officer in 1968.

He served a term as state representative, 1980-84, and in 1996 was elected to the state Senate, where he served until elected to Congress in 2002.

Davis and his wife, Lynda, have three daughters.
