Monty Joe Lankford was born in Detroit, Mich., and he now resides in Franklin. He earned a bachelor's at Free Will Baptist Bible College.
Lankford is the founder and chief executive of a medical equipment company, TLC Medical Oxygen & Hospital Equipment Inc., and a board member for the Tennessee Family Action Council, an arm of the national Christian fundamentalist organization Focus on the Family.
Lankford's company has 12 Tennessee locations, employs 75 people and provides healthcare services to more than 10,000 patients, according to Lankford.
Lankford and his wife, Shalia, have five children.
