Drew Parks was born in Hannibal, Mo., and now resides in Houston. He earned a bachelor's at University of Houston in 1995.
Parks is a research designer who has worked at the University of Houston for 20 years and currently works with high temperature superconductors and their magnetic applications. He has also worked as an engineer in high-energy physics at CERN laboratory in Geneva, Switzerland; at INFN under Gran Sasso, Italy; and at the now defunct Superconducting Supercollider near Dallas.
Parks has authored or co-authored dozens of technical and scientific publications. Prior to that, he worked as a laboratory director in an environmental laboratory and as an electronics designer for oil pipe inspection equipment.
Parks is a Vietnam veteran who served with the Strategic Air Command. He is divorced.
