Tom Daley was born in Phoenix, Ariz., and now resides in McKinney. He earned a bachelor's in economics at Hendrix College in 1986 and a law degree at Texas Wesleyan University School of Law in 2007.

Daley spent his childhood in the southwestern United States. In 1976, his family moved to Hot Springs to be closer to the rest of their family. Daley met his wife at Hendrix College. They married in 1987 and moved to Chicago for 13 years.

While living in the Chicago area, Daley worked at a regional brokerage firm, the Chicago Stock Exchange, and at an international consulting firm. In 1998, Daley founded a software company in Evanston, Ill., and a year later he moved the company to McKinney.

In 2001 Daley sold his company and spent the next several years merging it into the new operation. He retired from the software and financial services business in 2007 to prepare for a political career.

Daley and his wife, Ava, have one child.
