Cynthia Lummis is a native of Cheyenne. He earned two bachelor's degrees, one in animal science and the other in biology, at the University of Wyoming and a juris doctorate at University of Wyoming College of Law.
Lummis served two terms as Wyoming state treasurer, from 1999 to 2007. She was elected to the Wyoming House of Representatives in 1979, becoming the youngest woman elected to the Wyoming Legislature. She served 14 years in the state House and Senate.
Lummis and her husband, Al, have one daughter.
