I did not vote today. Went to polling place at 6 a.m., 3:30 p.m., and my wife went at 7:30 p.m. Neither of us voted due to excessively long lines. Louisiana needs a better system. Felt confident extra participation would reflect my vote. Presidential race seems decided in advance here, but would have been nice to vote the state races and amendments. How about voting by mail? There were so many police cars parked in the lot and on the street that there was nowhere for voters to park. Usually police park in the rear lot, which is not visible or accessible unless you know how the side streets wind around. My precinct is over 75% African American. Read More »

I am blind, and the poll workers initially had no idea how to enable the audio ballott on the touch screen voting machine. The problem was eventually resolved, but it was also difficult to review my ballott before casting it, since all the options were read again, and no summary of the selections I had made was given.
