Very calm, no crowds or voting issues. Yet walking into the polling place was one of the most profound and significant moments, for me, as a registered American voter. My eyes actually welled-up with tears when I was marking my ballot. Read More »

20190 (Virginia)

I arrived about 10:45 a.m. Line to register was short--3 people. Given choice for electronic machine, or paper ballot, it was a no-brainer: line for machine was 20-25 deep. Cubicles to fill out paper ballot--5--emptied almost immediately. Filled in four "circles" in no time; placed ballot in machine and that was it. Why people "waited" for electronic machine? You figure it out! Read More »

55105 (Minnesota)

We expected huge lines--a friend was working as an election judge in another precinct; he told us to get in before lunch or after 1. We went at 11:30, walked right in, got a ballot, no line, empty booths waiting, marked the little circles, slid ballots into machines. Done in 5 mins. But now I can't tell anyone how long I waited in line during this historic election. Read More »

A good old fashioned vote in Silicon Valley - on *paper* in someone's garage. No silly computerized voting machines. Read More »

14513 (New York)

In New York, we still use the "old fashioned" mechanical voting machines. Reliable, functional, solid, non-controversial. And the poll workers are friendly, polite, helpful. As always, voting was a purely easy & pleasurable activity in New York. Turn out has been pretty high, probably in the 70-80% range. We will likely see two or three new Democratic House members from upstate NY. Read More »

In anticipation of huge lines, I tried to vote early this past Sunday and Monday in downtown Oakland. There were huge lines with hundreds of people, and I left. I walked into my local voting location tonight in West Oakland at 5:30 PM and had no wait time at all. I like the ritual of voting in person, but I will probably go to a mail-in ballot to save time in the future. Read More »

05763 (Vermont)

Vermont! About 20 or so cars parked outside at one time (slightly higher than usual), very pleasant day weather wise, people friendly outside with signs, everyone inside extremely friendly and helpful, most folks know one another, popped right in and filled out ballots, slid ballot into machine (that's new for me, our last VT town hand counted the ballots), in and out in less than 10 minutes. I love VT!!! Read More »
