Not an issue, as much as a concern. I used one of VA's new paper ballot / scanners. I'm not impressed. The scanner gives no indication that it counted the ballot, nor that it counted it correctly. Also, the machines apparently do not record red, but there were no instructions that said NOT to use red ink or pencil. Read More »

My experience: A polling official interrupted the process to introduce an elderly African-American woman voting for her first time at age 95. The room exploded into applause. Amazing and perhaps telling of this election. Read More »

Our Sacramento County staff and volunteers do a great job, no matter how crazy the election. Things went as smoothly today as if for some minor community college bond. However, I was really taken aback by campaigners approaching me in the polling place parking lot -- never had that happen before in any election, big or small. There's lots of excitement out here in California! Read More »

Before voting, 3 of us, strangers in adjacent booths, shared concerns about our ballots, a bit of a no-no. An official swooped in and kindly addressed our problem. None of us 3 old women had ever voted with pencil on paper. We were skeptical as to how our votes could be secured manually. Paper and pencil! What will these younguns think of next? :)) Read More »

I had requested an absentee ballot. I sent an application form on the last day. I did not receive it in the mail by November 3rd. So, I voted by Special Ballot at Judiciary Square. I was told to return the unopened absentee ballot whenever it arrived. However, it still has not arrived on November 4th. I hope that my vote will count. Read More »

I just turned 18 and this was my first time. The staffs did not help me correctly and they just handed me a ballet. I was confused and asked for direction to the next step after I received my ballot. The elderly that worked there showed me to the submit box and I cast it without voting. I was very disappointed and they said nothing can be done. I think I was not given enough instruction and was denied of my right to speech. Read More »

Was surprised that in Virginia voters cannot wear anthing showing who they are supporting yet several of the workers inside handling sign-in and such were wearing campaign buttons, did not make a big deal out of it since voting went really well and they were very organized Read More »

I enjoyed the privacy of a booth while filling out my paper ballot, but I felt a palpable (and disturbing) lack of privacy when actually CASTING my vote. Apparently, my paper ballot had to be scanned into a machine, face-side up, in the middle of a crowded room. The scanner processed my ballot slowly, with my votes in plain sight of volunteers and fellow voters. So much for privacy. Read More »

Voting required 1.5 hours of waiting in the main line followed by waiting in 4 subsequent mini-lines once I entered "the room". It was the most bizarre process I have ever seen or heard to vote for the President (but of course, it's Florida) Read More »

What gives? It took me (I'm white) 10 minutes to vote & many African Americans in other precincts took hours? Is time-in-line a new "poll tax"? Read More »

Although the polls opened at 7, when I got there at 8, the line was AWFUL. Good news is that everyone was very patient, kept a sense of humor, and no one seemed to leave the line. There's got to be a better way to do this, however! (No early voting in PA) Read More »

"Adventure Voting--First in Line at The Polls"This morning my 16-year old daughter and I arrived at the polls at 5 a.m. EST complete with camping chairs, books and coffee to await the 7 a.m. poll opening. We were the first in line, and as my high schooler, who had proudly done her homework on the issues and the candidates, once again observed the voting process, I knew the cold, long wait had been an adventure she would always remember. Voted at Tyler School in SE. Arrived about 7:10, left about an hour later. Wife arrived with me, left within 10 minutes. Why? Because her last name starts with W, mine with B. Some genius decided to split us into four groups by splitting the alphabet into four equal groups, rather than splitting the actual voter rolls into four equal groups. M-S group was even more of a nightmare than my A-F group. T-Z had no one in line. Read More »

Overall good, with more people voting (yea!); however, the voting machine was broken since before opening which unnerved more than a few voters. Votes will be scanned in later. A few years ago, I was the 11th person to vote a few hours after the polls had opened. This year, more than 100 folks had voted before me in the same time period! Exciting! Read More »

The man in front of me left before pushing the blinking VOTE button and his vote ended up being cancelled by the poll worker with the PDE box he had to insert so I could vote.
