On the Issues

What is the most urgent problem facing your jurisdiction?

While Arlington has received a Triple A bond rating over the eight years that I have been on the board, our fiscal sustainability will remain a challenge. We must maintain our social safety net and protect the most vulnerable in our community, a task made more difficult by federal and state budget cuts. A prudent capital improvement program combined with sound budget direction to staff will help us meet these challenges. We must keep our tax base broad-based and growing through mixed-use, transit-oriented sustainable growth, while keeping our unwavering commitment to maintaining a diverse and inclusive community.

Why should voters elect you?

I have a strong record of achievement on the board, rooted in commitment to justice and proven ability to unite diverse voices to find solutions.
