On the Issues

What is the most urgent problem facing your jurisdiction?

I believe the greatest challenge for our community is preserving Arlington's character -- our broad diversity, balance of vibrant commercial areas and healthy neighborhoods, commitment to excellent public schools and life-long learning and strong tradition of civic participation. To stay true to these long-held values, we must focus our efforts where government can make the difference: meeting safety-net and affordable-housing needs, supporting our schools, balancing redevelopment and sustainability pressures and strengthening our transportation systems, all while support from the state of Virginia and the federal government shrinks. With effective leadership and community collaboration, we can achieve this.

Why should voters elect you?

With 16 years of public service, I've listened to my community, pursued our shared vision for Arlington and provided thoughtful leadership to guide change.
