On the Issues
What is the most urgent problem facing your jurisdiction?
The lack of school board leadership in the areas of accountability, transparency and responsiveness to community input creates fundamental problems in the management of FCPS. The citizens of Fairfax County deserve a school board that will ensure an independent audit of the $2.2 billion FCPS budget, review educational programming and administrative staffing for efficiency and effectiveness, and provide greater public participation in decisions that impact our schools and students, such as class sizes, curriculum choices and discipline policies. Simultaneously, we must ensure better student outcomes for our most at-risk populations: the disadvantaged, minorities and students with disabilities.
Why should voters elect you?
I'll bring needed change and be the board member who understands the needs of students with disabilities and the federal and state special-education laws.
