On the Issues

What is the most urgent problem facing your jurisdiction?

Nov. 8 presents a tremendous opportunity to elect a reform-minded School Board that will restore public trust Fairfax County public schools. Fairfax schools historically have achieved relatively high educational outcomes; however, their continued success is in doubt. Leadership, enabled by a majority of the board, has made many questionable decisions (e.g., unfair grading policies, unbalanced curriculum-eliminating honors courses, draconian disciplinary practices and problematic school closures and boundary changes). It's time to elect a board that will actively seek and empirically consider the entire community's input (teachers, parents and all stakeholders), so that in Fairfax public schools, every student matters.

Why should voters elect you?

I will listen to the community. My decisions will be based on sound analysis and commonsense. I will provide needed leadership. Every student must matter.
