On the Issues
What is the most urgent problem facing your jurisdiction?
The most urgent problem facing Fairfax County public schools is the demand on classroom instruction created by larger class sizes and standardized-testing requirements. This has created a "teaching to the test" learning environment as well as an increased administrative workload for educators. The pressure to "teach to the test" will intensify as Fairfax's student enrollment continues to increase in overall size and diversity. These challenges have a negative impact on the quality of education, student achievement, teacher morale and budgetary demands. As a School Board member, I will partner with teachers, parents, and other stakeholders to identify solutions to these issues.
Why should voters elect you?
As a school board member, I will listen carefully to community concerns, examine the relevant data and take action to strengthen our public schools.
