On the Issues

What is the most urgent problem facing your jurisdiction?

Maintaining high student achievement and continuing to close gaps in spite of tight revenues and a student population growing in numbers and needs. Emphasizing high-level analytical problem-solving skills and abolishing the stifling over use of fact-based standardized bubble tests. Making better use of powerful, online, 24/7 learning to maximize valuable in-class time with teachers, while connecting students to the exploding body of world knowledge. Teaching children how to evaluate and use these vast resources to solve problems. Providing all children a rigorous education in science, math, technology, engineering, the arts, languages, social studies, literature, writing and physical education.

Why should voters elect you?

I have helped increase student achievement, close gaps, secure a 3.5 percent raise for staff, implement full-day kindergarten and cut office costs to retain teachers
