On the Issues
What is the most urgent problem facing your jurisdiction?
Fairfax County public schools is a huge and diverse school district that needs to provide all students, including those in the middle, with rigorous instruction that meets their needs. This can be done effectively if Fairfax schools begin to incorporate input from classroom teachers and parents, such as by adopting FAIRGRADE's proposal to give high school students three curriculum choices -- AP, honors and standard level -- in five subjects. Fairfax schools also need to eliminate excessively large core classes, which are causing teachers to rely more heavily on multiple-choice tests and to have students grade assignments and tests.
Why should voters elect you?
As a former tax lawyer, I am uniquely qualified to lead a bipartisan effort to improve our excellent schools.
