On the Issues

What is the most urgent problem facing your jurisdiction?

Rising student populations, coupled with flat budgets over the past several years, have presented many challenges for Lee District schools and Fairfax County public schools as a whole. Class sizes have grown, teacher workloads have increased, children are entering school without the literacy skills needed to be successful, and budget priorities have been called into question. Through it all, however, our schools have remained strong. To maintain our world-class school system, the new School Board must respond to these issues and work to restore trust and a collaborative partnership with teachers, parents, students and the entire community.

Why should voters elect you?

I have a proven record of budget management, consensus building and creative problem solving, and I'm committed to making our excellent school system even better.
