On the Issues
What is the most urgent problem facing your jurisdiction?
Making a fundamental change from a standardized-test-driven model to one that motivates students to love learning, enhances creativity, allows individualization and truly prepares young people to contribute to and live in the world of the future. We need to rethink both student and teacher time, schedules and workload to find the optimal fit for learning and teaching. Overarching all of this will be the search for our next superintendent, as Dr. Jack Dale is retiring in June 2013. It is critical to find a forward-thinking leader to move us toward these goals while including the school community in the process.
Why should voters elect you?
I am a much-needed activist voice on the School Board, fighting for more public input into decisions and creative, research-based solutions to critical issues.
