On the Issues
What is the most urgent problem facing your jurisdiction?
Our schools have been changing rapidly, experiencing poverty, diversity, learning needs and overcrowding. While our students continue to excel at every level, and achievement gaps are closing, our gains have been slowing, our challenges increasing and our local and state per-student funding declining. To remain successful and fully prepare our students for the 21st century, we must increase parent and community support of our schools in order to attract, support and keep the best teachers, staff and technology. Engaging, involving and partnering with our highly diverse and accomplished communities will be essential to our success.
Why should voters elect you?
I have been a leader in keeping our schools among the best in the world. I will listen and lead to continue their success.
