On the Issues
What is the most urgent problem facing your jurisdiction?
Our biggest challenge is to raise achievement for every student in a climate of higher expectations and lower budgets while focusing on a curriculum that ensures students succeed in the 21st century. Today we educate 10,000 more children than four years ago on $16 million less. The outlook for flat revenue while student enrollments and diversity increase require that we advocate for new revenue opportunities, provide more meaningful instruction and address the needs of all students. We must continue to find efficiencies, reduce class sizes, increase teacher compensation and move away from just preparing students for standardized tests.
Why should voters elect you?
Experience and leadership through limited budgets, focus on student achievement, accessibility and commitment to community input during decision-making are reasons to reelect me.
