On the Issues

What is the most urgent problem facing your jurisdiction?

Student growth is the most critical issue facing LCPS. The school system has more than doubled to nearly 66,000 students in the time I've been on the board and is expected to grow by 3,000 additional students each year for the foreseeable future. Additionally, our student class size is the second highest in the region, directly impacting instruction. Unless economic development increases faster than residential growth, residential property taxes will remain the highest in the region. The school board needs to partner with the board of supervisors and encourage greater economic development.

Why should voters elect you?

I want to continue to ensure our students receive a first-class education that prepares them to compete in our 21st-century world.
