On the Issues

What is the most urgent problem facing your jurisdiction?

The need to build more schools for the 2,500 to 3,000 new students we've received for each of the past five years. These increases are projected from new births in the county and those moving into the county because of residential development. Finding land suitable for schools is more difficult, with fewer and fewer proffers from developers. There is also resistance from organized groups in the location of schools. Families are often disrupted by the need to draw new attendance boundaries in reducing overcrowding and opening new schools. The state's funding formula does not consider our needs based on growth.

Why should voters elect you?

I have worked very hard and have proved my dedication and leadership on the board. I have been actively present at all School Board meetings.
