On the Issues

What is the most urgent problem facing your jurisdiction?

Despite a difficult economy and increased demand for county services, ensuring that essential services such as education, public safety, transportation and human services are adequately funded while controlling the tax burden on county residents. In addition to managing the fiscal challenges caused by a slower economy, we must work with the state and federal governments and the private sector to find creative ways to fund major infrastructure improvements, including the Dulles Metrorail project, roads, schools, parks and other infrastructure needed for the redevelopment of Tysons Corner as well as other growth areas throughout the county.

Why should voters elect you?

I am an effective advocate for my constituents. I listen, build consensus and get results. I have made county government more effective, open and responsive.
