On the Issues

What is the most urgent problem facing your jurisdiction?

Transportation. Like most Northern Virginians, we are very concerned about congestion, overcrowded and aging transit, intersection safety and lack of basic maintenance. However, neighborhoods throughout the district also are impacted heavily by mega projects. They bear the brunt of 25 percent of Beltway HOT lane construction, Engineering Proving Grounds access for 8,200 workers and Fairfax County Parkway completion. Citizens helped me get $94 million diverted from shutdown projects downstate for enhanced Beltway sound-walls and landscaping. Federal stimulus funds diverted industrial traffic off Rolling Road. However, dealing with proposed I-395 and I-95 HOT lanes construction now challenges neighborhoods down the middle of the district.

Why should voters elect you?

I work hard to listen to all sides, ask tough questions, seek critical information and try to think through the future results of any decision.
