On the Issues

What is the most urgent problem facing your jurisdiction?

Given the financial and political climate, there is a constant demand from the state and locality to do more with less. We continue to operate a safe and secure detention facility and courthouse, but it is with a reduced budget and staffing. As we remembered the 10th anniversary of Sept. 11th, Virginia has, over the past few years, continually reduced funding to the sheriff's office, which hinders our ability to provide the level of service expected and needed by our communities although Arlington County has worked to restore resources as they are able.

Why should voters elect you?

As sheriff for 11 years, I continue to work to provide a safe and secure detention facility and courthouse that ensure the community's safety.
