What is the most urgent problem facing your jurisdiction?
The driving issue in this campaign is the Sheriff's Office's role in Fairfax. We are responsible for operating the detention center and providing courtroom security and civil enforcement. Primary law enforcement is the responsibility of the Fairfax County Police Department. The challenge for us, as with all of Fairfax County government, is to provide high-quality core services efficiently. This is done by exercising sound leadership, fiscal responsibility and fostering cooperation between our public safety partners. I have been successful in doing this.
Why should voters elect you?
My 32 years in the sheriff's office, 12 as sheriff, with my proven record of fiscal responsibility, make me uniquely qualified for reelection.
