On the Issues

What is the most urgent problem facing your jurisdiction?

I've listened to thousands of voters in our district. The main concern I've heard is jobs and the economy. We must recognize that although Northern Virginia's unemployment rate is low, it is nearly double what it previously was. The region's No. 1 employer, the federal government, is cutting back on employees and contractors. It's estimated that 70 percent of all new jobs will be created by entrepreneurs and small-business owners. We need to invent and reward the risk it takes to start a business and create jobs, streamline regulations and reform our tax code to unleash Northern Virginia's entrepreneurial spirit.

Why should voters elect you?

I will bring the depth of experience necessary in these challenging times to help foster a jobs-friendly atmosphere throughout the commonwealth.
