On the Issues

What is the most urgent problem facing your jurisdiction?

Virginia is struggling with how to allocate less revenue to our many pressing needs. We have dramatically downsized state government; now we must right-size it. My top priority will always be education. We are underfunding both K-12 and higher education. Our services to our neighbors in need are among the skimpiest in the nation. We must continue to work in a bipartisan manner to create jobs. And, we must find a way to fund transportation without taking money from other core services. As a Senate budget negotiator, I will continue to help set our state's priorities.

Why should voters elect you?

I fight for Northern Virginia. In uncertain times, I have the experience and seniority to protect our families, jobs, education system and quality of life.
