On the Issues

What is the most urgent problem facing your jurisdiction?

To have a strong economy and attract jobs to Virginia, we need a workforce that can compete in today's global economy. We must invest in our schools and provide a quality education for all Virginians. In 2011, the Senate Democrats restored $450 million in cuts to public education, fought for smaller classes and supported more funding for school construction. Our colleges and universities must be affordable and accessible for Virginians. World-class schools and good jobs equal a great quality of life.

Why should voters elect you?

I am a problem-solver and have a track record of getting things done, which is why the Senate Democrats elected me majority leader.
